This shotgun is one of a kind. The pictures are of the actual gun you will receive. The barrel will be removed from the action when shipped to save on shipping.
This is very early production gun as the late 1903 Crass production wrapped up right around serial number 94,108, and the Lewis model series officially picked up at 94,109 in early 1904.
This gun differs from the Crass as it has Ithaca's early fluid steel barrels (it is Nitro proof marked) instead of the Damascus twist barrel and is made to handle the newer smokeless powders of the day. The hammerless feature was introduced on this model.
Condition:
The bluing is thin in spots and there are a couple spots on the left side of the barrels where the finish has turned brown but otherwise nice for its age.
There are a few small dings in the barrels (pictured) but nothing effecting function. The bore is shiny with just a couple tiny pitting spots.
The action is very tight as well as the stock fit.
The stock is free of cracks or major damage.
Overall this is a very nice shotgun in good condition.
Important Warning:Even though it is stamped for nitro/smokeless powder, do not shoot modern high-pressure steel shot or heavy modern 12-gauge magnum shells through this gun. Shotguns from 1904 often have shorter chambers (such as 2 9/16" or 2 5/8" instead of the modern 2 3/4" or 3") and softer steel alloys that cannot handle the pressure of modern ammunition. If you plan to shoot it, have a competent gunsmith check the chamber length and barrel integrity first.
